experience. Owner operator Caroldean Ross, who's previous location on the fashionable El Paseo shopping district was famous for cutting edge fashion, before it's time. She featured the premier collections of new designers such as Ed Hardy, Rockin' Republic, Trina Turk, Isabella Fiore, and Sky. Working closely with her Mother, Micky Ross, who started her first Resale store "Deja Vu Fashions" in Claremont California back in 1975. She was a pioneer to the concept, and created a market that had never really been seen as chic until she got her hands on it. "Thrift Stores" were the only thing to compare us to back then, and she worked very hard to drop the "stigma" attached to buying used clothing, and coined the phrases "previously enjoyed" and "gently loved" clothing, shoes, and accessories. Her original store is still operating, and flourishing in Claremont, and now that Micky lives in the desert, she is settling nicely into retirement here, at Resale Therapy.
We now have over 2000 consignees, and cater to clients from all over the country, with boxes arriving weekly, from Chicago, New York, Miami, and Los Angeles. Our Elite list of clients has been cultivated over our combined 50 years of retail experience. Merchandise is meticulously sorted, and handled, and we feature labels from Louis Vuitton, Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, St. John, Escada, Prada, and Etro, just to name a few. We also feature moderate collections such as Donna Karan, Liz Claiborn, and Ralph Lauren, with only the best items making their way onto our well stocked selling floor.
Merchandise is featured for a total of 90 days, before it is either retrieved by the consignee, or donated to one of the 8 local charities to which we contribute.
Our theory is...that if you "shop more, and spend less, you'll feel better"! thus the name, Resale Therapy...We have 5000 sq ft. of shopping pleasure, and it is like a treasure hunt every time you stop in. Resale Therapy features both new, and "previously enjoyed" clothing for both men, and women. Make sure you check out our special collections of close-out merchandise from top designer boutiques in both Los Angeles, and Palm Desert.
About Caroldean
In our desert paradise, Caroldean Ross is known as the "Queen of Cool." It's a title that she's been working toward from the time she was a young fashionista, visiting her grandmother in London, England.
"I discovered how fun it was at 7 or 8 years old, when I would come back from Europe wearing cutting-edge fashions and set trends at home."
Caroldean is still setting trends, only now, she does it through her retail stores, Caroldean El Paseo in Palm Desert and Resale Therapy in Palm Springs.
Raised in Claremont, California, She graduated from the Los Angeles Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in 1982. Caroldean's first hands-on experience began in the 1980s when she worked for Laise Adzer on Rodeo Drive, where she was a wholesale buyer and design consultant.
Caroldean El Paseo reflects her personal style. She regularly attends fashion shows in LA, Las Vegas and Miami's South Beach, and she still keeps her eye on what is happening abroad.
"What's most fun about fashion is constantly reinventing yourself. One month its ripped jeans, the next they're clean and skinny. You have to stay low and close to the ground so you can change at a moment's notice."
In the summer of 2006, Caroldean El Paseo added menswear to it's everchanging line.
"I look for what men would wear after work. Most of the clothes have a hip, urban look. They're comfortable, cool, but not too casual."
Caroldean also owns and operates Resale Therapy, a Palm Springs consignment store featuring previously enjoyed fashions for both men and women.
Throughout her career, Caroldean has traveled extensively. She has lived in LA and New York, but she has been happy to call Palm Desert home for the last 15 years.
A Bob Hope Classic Girl herself (Bob-1982), Caroldean has been a key fashion provider for the Classic girls since 1995. Giving back to her community is an essential part of Caroldean's success.
"Being a Classic Girl was a highlight of my life. They support so many great charities, and I'm happy I can give back and honored to still be involved." Caroldean supports many other charities and organizations in her community, including the Leukemia Society, Olive Crest, The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission and is a member of the Palm Springs Women in Film.
